In the morning, we all need that extra bit of energy to get the day started. Most people reach for coffee first thing (I’m often guilty of this), but a better way to get that important boost is through a green smoothie.
I sometimes struggle to get the amount of vegetables in my diet that I should, so this is a great way to pack in those veggie and fruit servings. My boys don’t eat a lot of fresh greens, so this recipe is a perfect way to ‘disguise’ those nutritious leaves!

The star ingredients in this smoothie are obviously the greens – namely kale and spinach. The finished product is wonderfully refreshing and mildly sweet!
Kale is a good source of Dietary Fiber, Protein, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Folate, Iron, Magnesium and Phosphorus, and a very good source of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Vitamin B6, Calcium, Potassium, Copper and Manganese. Tip: Before drinking your smoothie, drink a full glass of water to get yourself hydrated. Then you’ll feel better about having that morning coffee 😉
